Antioxidant scanning of body

BioPhotonic Scanner

The Pharmanex BioPhotonic Scanner is a noninvasive method of measuring overall carotenoid antioxidant activity in the body. This is done by light, not blood.

The scanning is done by placing the palm of the hand on the optical lense of the scanner. It works on the principal of Raman Spectroscopy (Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930).

It is a safe determination of carotenoid levels which in turn can provide diagnostic information regarding general health, vulnerability towards illness and cancer risk, or actual illness.

'In this technique, laser light is directed upon the area of tissue which is of interest. A small fraction of the scattered light is scattered inelastically, producing the carotenoid Raman signal that is at a different frequency than the incident laser light, and the Raman signal is collected, filtered, and measured. The resulting Raman signal can be analyzed such that the background fluorescence signal is subtracted and the results displayed and compared with known calibration standards.
It is important to be aware of exactly what the scanner measures: a detection of the total carotenoids content in human skin. Notably, the vibration of all of the double bonds of all carotenoids, as measured by Raman Spectroscopy, detects basically all of the skin carotenoids. Specifically acknowledged are the following: all-trans-beta-carotene,
lycopene, alpha-carotene, gamma-carotene, phytoene, phytofluene, sepapreno-betacarotene, 7,7’dihydro-beta-carotene, astaxanthin, canthaxanthin, zeaxanthin, lutein, beta-apo8’carotenal, violaxanthins, and rhodoxanthin. This is considerably more than skin carotene.'  Source: Cady Wellness Institute

Antioxidant levels are directly linked to our cellular health, immune system, energy levels, and resilience. Colour indicators relate to scores and mean:

Red is poor, orange is weak, yellow is average, green is good, blue means excellent. 

Antiox scan score examples:

18000 - showing up in the red zone (see image). antioxidant-scantest-poor-score.jpgThis is a very low result. Such scores show up an alarming vulnerability to illness, and free radical cell damage.

Score result: 76000 - showing up in the blue zone. This is very good score. It shows that the person is following a healthy lifestyle, is in overall good cellular health, and has a lot of free-radical fighting capacity.

High levels (50000+) show that the bod's cells have good to great resilience. The body would appreciate good energy levels, a strong immune system, and good cellular health. High antioxidant levels have an antiaging effect.
